Faculty Mentor: Dr. Kimberly Marman
Dr. Kim Marman is a licensed teacher in elementary education and special education and has a special education director credential. She has worked with students with disabilities in the public and private P-12 educational settings in North Dakota and South Dakota. She is the Chair for the Department of Education and an Associate Professor at the University of Mary. She teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels for students pursuing degrees in early childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education settings.
I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Marman approximately twice a month. She answered questions I had about teaching, including conversations about how to form professional relationships with students from all backgrounds. She also provided me with practical wisdom on organizing multiple class materials, giving timely feedback, and portfolio and resume building. My time with Dr. Marman helped me fall even more in love with teaching as she shared her authentic experiences and successes with students. |
Professional Mentor: Karri Landeis
Mrs. Karri Landeis has been teaching English for twenty years. She graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato and started her teaching career at Century High School in 2000. She currently teaches AP English Literature and Composition, AVID, and Exploring the Education Profession.
I have had the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Landeis this past semester. Though our time was cut short, she provided me with insight into teaching AP classes and materials to look into before I begin teaching. I also attended a Mandt training with Mrs. Landeis where we focused on deescalation strategies. I look forward to continuing working with her this upcoming semester as I prepare for student teaching. As a past student of Mrs. Landeis, I have been blessed to work with her again since she is the teacher who inspired me to pursue English Education. |
